Did the Industrial Revolution affect the way people lived and worked for the better or the worse? Explain your answer by providing examples.

I think the Industrial Revolution has affected people as well as the environment in a negative way. It left many poor farmers unemployed and bankrupt. Small hand weavers were redundant as machines that were capable of producing more goods in a shorter span of time were invented.
Men, women and even children as young as 5 were forced to go out to work as families desperately needed money to support their living expenses in cities or towns. This led to child labours and women had to shuffle their time between house-duties and working. It also resulted in many children growing up malajusted and receiving little or no education since workers, especially women and children were labouring for up to 18 hours each day, leaving no time for family contact.

The environmental condition of the world changed from posititve to negative. Pollution of the atmosphere increased rapidly as more and more factories were built and fumes as well as rubbish from the factories were released into the environment.

In conclusion, I feel that the Industrial Revolution has caused a negative impact on the world rather than a positive one.
